Personal style is such a fun thing, and the options are endless on how you’d like to characterize your own style. While it’s super important for some to have a focus when it comes to their style, that’s not the case for me.
I touched on my thoughts in this post but wanted to expand a bit today!
High Low Cuffed Shirt (c/o) || Denim skirt (sold out but similar linked) || Mules || Sunglasses
In middle and high school I was never the fashionista, far from it actually. It’s funny, because my best friend was always known for her style and actually got voted “Best Dressed” of the senior class! But, I stuck to jeans and really anything that was safe. I was extremely shy and didn’t want to wear anything that might get me noticed or draw any attention to myself. Funny right? Now, I have a whole website dedicated to my style and basically asking to get noticed.
But with that being said, once I graduated and was in college I started being more interested in my style and made it a mission to wear things I loved and forget the rest. I started having friends look to me to style them, and I actually loved the attention of people liking my style. I especially loved when I could give my friend’s style advice and point them to pieces that stayed within their college budget!
When I started focusing more on fashion on The Blonder Life I knew I needed a focus and to find a certain style. But honestly, it was hard for me. Most fashion bloggers have that certain look about them and all their posts. They have a style that is cohesive throughout their brand. I was desperate for that, and finally wound up categorizing myself as casual but still wasn’t really a style.
I started shopping for pieces that were normally outside of my realm to try to find one specific style.
If my budget allowed for it I would solely shop at Urban and Free People, but for now, my post-grad budget doesn’t allow for that… here’s to dreaming.
I started finding pieces that I wouldn’t have typically worn and just buying them without truly thinking. Something about it was so inspiring! While scrolling online one day I found this High Low Cuffed Top and immediately fell in love. It’s the perfect work top, but also is so cute styled for after the clock! It is the comfiest material too, and I love how high-quality it looks, but the price tag is totally affordable ($12!) I finally retired my need to categorize my syle, and have been trying to shop outside my “style comfort zone” it really is the greatest thing to wake up your style!
Next time you’re shopping I challenge you to pick up something that isn’t 100% you. Whether it’s adding a little color into your wardrobe, or even trying a trend! Just do it.
Do you stick to a typical style, or look? What do you categorize your style as?

You totally do! Such a summer staple!
I love not having a particular style! It’s way more fun that way for me haha! I change up my style day-to-day … one afternoon I’m totally boho and ready for the beach, and the next day it’s all about street style. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stay within one category, but I do know that I love everything you wear. This top is so cute and so affordable! I love the stripes!
