Happy FriYAY beauties, I hope everyone has some awesome plans for this weekend! Right now I am actually on the way to the beach with a bunch of my family and I’m so excited for a nice relaxing day in the sun. What is everyone doing?!
So as promised I am giving you guys the scoop on my week without dairy! First, let me tell you this was NOT EASY! Going into this challenge I knew it would be challenging, but never did I think it would be so time-consuming, and honestly kind of depressing- HA. The number of times I had to turn down queso, or Marble Slab dates was heartbreaking.
Before I get into what I ate, and all my thoughts on that let me get one thing out. DAIRY IS IN EVERYTHING! Before I started I should have narrowed down what I really wanted to cut out, and made a few rules for myself. I found it pretty impossible to find any packaged food that didn’t contain some form of dairy. This was a learning process for me, though, and I found out what and whatnot my body could really handle. I think going forward I will try my best to cut out the true forms of dairy (ie: milk, cheese, ice cream and yogurt) and continue eating the foods that have only a limited amount (ie: bread and cereal)
Also, yes I did cave a few times and ended up having dairy either from an accident or just pure cravings.
Here are a few non-dairy products I tried throughout the week with my thoughts! Enjoy!
Ian’s Frozen French Bread Pizza
Honestly, I was not a fan of this at all. I ended up only eating a few bites, then threw it away. The bread and pizza sauce were pretty normal compared to other frozen pizza’s, but the fake cheese was the big deal breaker for me. It was very sticky and had an odd texture that I couldn’t seem to get over.
Yoplait Lactose-Free Yogurt
Okay, love this stuff! I think I’m going to start only eating this kind now. It tastes identical to normal yogurt, so big yes from me!
So Delish Cookie Dough
Of course, I had to try some type of dessert! I was a big fan of this ice cream, and will probably continue to purchase this brand. Most dairy-free ice cream has a slightly thinner texture compared to a normal ice cream, but not this brand! I even had my mom give it a try, and she was a fan.
Artic Zero Snickerdoodle
I was interested in trying Artic Zero after seeing how lo-calorie the dessert was! After trying I understood why they were so lo-cal, but it wasn’t a complete bust. Artic Fresh has a much thinner, smoother consistency compared to So Delish. In my opinion, it tastes more like a smoothie, or even fro-yo. It would be a good snack for when you’re looking for something light!
