How To Grow Long Healthy Hair

How To Grow Long Healthy Hair | theblonderlife.com

Today I am talking about hair hair and more hair! Everyone has that one thing about themselves that they’re pretty confident about, and to me it is my hair. Totally not trying to sound conceited but I always get questions on how I have such healthy, shiny hair so I wanted to share my tips for growing long, healthy hair with you!

Unfortunately, there is not one magic product, or vitamin to take that will leave you with gorgeous hair. As I have grown up I’ve realized healthy hair is basically a lifestyle commitment. Having healthy hair takes more than you think, so here I am to guide you along the process.

1. Shampoo & Conditioner

This has been the change that I made in my hair routine that has shown the biggest transformation for me. Sulfate is AWFUL for your hair, and basically, 95% of shampoo brands include it. But seriously, right now go check out your shampoo bottle’s label. I’ll wait… Sulfate strips all the healthy oils from your hair, which are essential for your hair to grow.

2. Argon Oil

I use a little bit of argon oil on my towel dried hair every time I wash it. I put a little bit in my palm and rub it all over my hair, root to ends. Argoil Oil leaves my hair extremely smooth, and looking shiny the next morning.

3. Hair Mask

Treat your hair to a mask regularly- I try to use my hair mask at least once a week! Make sure to use a small amount, because a little goes a long way! Basically, a hair mask is like a deep cleaning for your hair, and strips all the buildup on your roots. You can either purchase a hair mask from your local beauty store or DIY from ingredients in your kitchen.

What I’m using: Maui Heal + Hydrate Mask

4. Scalp massage

Rubbing your scalp for a least a minute while shampooing has proven to be very beneficial for growing your hair. The increase of blood flow stimulates the growth and actually strengthens your roots. If you forget to do this in the shower you can also do this once a week using coconut oil after your shower.

5. Dirty is better

Up until a year ago, I washed my hair every day, and looking back at it makes me seriously cringe. Your hair is full of natural essential oils, and every time you wash it you are stripping all those oils! I only wash my hair about four times a week now and I am very happy with the change. At first, it might seem weird to skip out on washing your hair, but trust me it’s such a good decision! Your hair will adjust after a few weeks. On the days in between shampooing, I use Dove’s dry shampoo which is a total life-savor.

6. Handle with care

Healthy hair is not just about the products, but how you actually care for it outside of the shower. One of the most important tips to have healthy hair is to be gentle when brushing! I recently purchased the wet brush and will never use another brush again. It is very gentle on your strands and makes brushing wet hair a breeze. I also brush my hair right before I get in the shower to make it less knotty after.

7. Vitamins

I’m not a huge advocate for hair vitamins increasing your growth quicker but it does make your strands healthier, which leads to less breakage. Any vitamin containing biotin is great for your hair. I take a vitamin specifically for hair and nails that contain biotin and a ton of other vitamins. Also, fish oil and zinc is great for your hair!

8. All about heat

We all have been told that heat is horrible for our hair, and I am a firm believer in this. I let my hair air- dry almost every day and I try to only style my hair with heat tools for special occasions. If you’re looking to air-dry your hair more often think about buying one of these!
If you are one of those girls who insists on blow drying and straightening your hair constantly there are a few tips to keep your hair protected. Always use a thermal spray, or serum to protect from heat damage. Also when it comes to straightening and blow drying your hair keep the tool moving. Straightening a strand over and over again will put an extreme amount of heat on your hair, and will cause serious damage! Try a top knot, or braid next time you’re just running errands. It will give your hair a break, and give you a new look!

Extra Tip: Most people think it’s better to leave their tools on a low heat setting while going over their hair again and again when actually a hotter setting will get the job done faster and cause less damage.

9. You are what you eat

If you’re anything like me, you don’t ever drink the right amount of water or eat enough vegetables. Oops. But most green vegetables are natural shine boosters (especially Kale if you’re feeling trendy) and can act as a natural conditioner. Drinking a ton of water and adding more green veggies into your diet will really improve the health of your hair.

Thank you so much for reading, and hopefully, you can walk away with some new tips! Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or even more tips on healthy hair.

I never really knew that sulfate was THAT bad for our hair until my hairdresser passed along the knowledge. Now I stay far, far away from it- ha! Glad you enjoyed this post and love dry shampoo as much as me!

Awesome! Happy to know washing my hair rarely is doing me some good! Eating a ketogenic diet could help your hair become so thick and gorgeous! You could start by introducing more coconut oil to your diet, plus grass fed collagen.

I use it along with another brand too, and switch it up every few months! You should add it back into your routine for a bit!

I have curly hair so it’s really hard to go a few day without washing it or it’ll look like a rat slept in my head, haha. Do you have any suggestions on curly hair products? I’ve never tried to use dry shampoo in fear it’ll look odd. I wash my hair every other day and I really don’t like it. I’ve thought of straightening it and then I wouldn’t have to wash it so much. Haha, that takes forever too but pick your battles right? Haha. Your hair is gorgeous!

I LOVE dry shampoo, seriously it has changed my hair game. I was skeptical at first, but it actually doesn’t really change the appearance of your hair except for making it appear way more clean. You should try it out. Spray it farther away from your scalp, and rub it into really “soak” in the grease. Then give it a bit to work its magic! I have naturally wavy/curly hair so I understand the struggle with going to sleep and it looking crazy, but dry shampoo really helps with that! Let me know if that helps!

Your hair is beautiful and love the waves. Great article with so many product choices! I have fine, straight hair, so I’m always looking for a product to add volume.

Oh my gosh, this is so helpful! I use several of the products, but didn’t know how to stop washing my oily hair every day. I once shaved my entire head just because i was afraid to do it! Wish I’d had these tips back then! ha!

I found my Dove dry shampoo helps with that! It’s specifically for volume, and definitely gives my hair a lift when it needs it!
