Jumper | Adidas Superstars (order 1 whole size down) | Kate Spade bag: old (similar linked)
Today I am going to talk about the struggle that is, having a baby face. Basically my whole teen years I have been told how young I look, but have always been reassured that it’s a good thing. I have never been a fan of that reassurance.
Being 23 and still constantly being told I look like a freshman (in high school) can get really old. Especially after graduating college, and wanting to look like a real adult.
I have been tagged in so many BuzzFeed articles about this problem it’s insane. I figured I would pinball off of all of the “baby face problem” articles out there and add my own opinion on it!
Things that happen when you look way younger than you are
- People are shocked when you tell them how old you are
- Getting carded for a R rated movie
- Being told how much you will appreciate your baby face when you’re 40
- Looking even more significantly younger when you go without make-up
- Getting a funny look from the cashier when you purchase anything that deems you an adult (ie. insurance, tires, etc.)
- No one believes you on your birthday
- Forever getting carded for alcohol
- Bouncers question your ID, and usually think it’s fake
- Always having the nickname “the baby” or “the little one”
- Feeling accomplished when people guess your age and are within 5 years
- Servers assuming you can’t afford anything at a nice restaurant
- Having the mindset “I’m gonna look my age today” while getting ready
- Getting dirty looks when you’re out in public with your younger family member. Even though you actually could be old enough to be their mom
- Not ever wanting to be pregnant because you know people will mistake you as a teen mom
- Only ever being called “cute”
I have been loving this jumper lately. Plus, the long sleeve shirt underneath comes with it – so two outfits in one! I love the dark colored stripes, and paired it with some Adidas superstars to make it a bit more casual!
Adidas superstars have been all of the rage lately, and I never knew if I could really rock them. I have a smaller foot, and was worried they would end up looking like clown shoes on me.
As you know, my style is more casual and I knew that a cute sneaker would become a staple in my closet. Black Friday they went on major sale so without even thinking I ordered them. Once they were shipped out to me I browsed Pinterest for some outfit inspiration, and had so many ideas! I am totally in love with my TopShop ripped black denim, and figured I would have those on repeat with my Adidas! Until, I found this jumper! I love the look of dresses with sneakers. It’s my not-so-girly style mixed with casualness wrapped into one look. It’s the perfect combination!
What’s your favorite way to style your Adidas?
Thanks for the post. http://www.fooddoz.com
You and I are in the same boat with the baby face. But since I am an actor I think being able to play way younger works in my favor!
This is such a cute look, and I love all of the stripes! Also, I relate to this post x100. I’m 25, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been accused of using a fake ID in the past year! I’m 10 years older than my brother, and my mom finds it hilarious to tell people she has 16 year old twins because he looks older than me. Haha.

Loving this look! I’ve been wanting to get a dress like this for a while!

Ok, I was gonna tell you, you looked adorable, but I would say that to anyone wearing this look, I just don’t want to offend you. I mean, I’m 33 and I think people would say that it’s adorable on me, well maybe not, but anyways. I seriously LOVE this look! It’s so fun and playful and the sneaks totally make it! I wish I could pull this off, myself, but I think I’m too tall for the length to be appropriate. Anywho, you are rocking this look, girl! I’m sorry for all of the things that people say, I can imagine it would get pretty annoying after awhile.

Such a cute jumper! And I know all about those “looks” from cashiers when purchasing something adult-like. So aggravating, lol.
I know about the struggle of looking younger! But one day we’ll be grateful lol.
Great post!!

HAHA oh my gosh this post was meant for me!! I’m a month away from 23 and people are constantly carding me at restaurants, but not my boyfriend – who literally just turned 21. It’s the most frustrating thing ever. Gotta love lookin like a baby haha. But girlfriend, I love this outfit. I nearly bought that exact jumper a couple weeks ago at Target!

Girl, I’m the same. 22 and look like a freshman too! It can get really annoying but we’ll look great when we’re older 🙂 Love this layered look! The Adidas Superstars are everywhere now a days! I need to get a pair. xx thecarlycollective.com
I really can’t relate to this too much since I’m 5 9 and most people assume I’m 26. A lot of my friends have baby faces, so I try not to assume how old they are! You definitely look 23 to me 🙂
I love your look, you such a great eye for style!
xx

It took me a little while too, but now I am so obsessed. I wear them way too often!
So trendy and cute! I love that stripes on that top! I’ve also been meaning to get my hands on a pair of those Adidas 🙂

Get them girl! They’re so comfortable, and versatile! I love how they can go with dresses, or a casual denim look!
Super cuter outfit and I laughed so hard at #12 because I’ve had friends that were totally there. On the bright side you’ll continue to look way younger while everyone gets older and wrinkley looking <3

Girl it’s a STRUGGLE. Literally, I have to know ahead of time if I wanna look my age so I can prepare.
Lol I can totally relate to everything – we’ll probably appreciate looking young in ~10 years, but it’s not so fun now when we’re in our 20s haha! Love the outfit btw 🙂

Oh my goodness, this is so me in the future ha! I feel ya, it’s the worst.
This whole look is SO cute, Jamie! And I totally feel you on the baby face issue. People are always like, “what?! You look 17!!!”. And I’ve gotten carded for an R rated movie more times than I’d like to admit, haha.

Thanks babe! I ALWAYS get carded for R rated movies, it’s so frustrating. Like I can legally watch this movie AND order a drink if I wanted.
I love how you styled this whole look! So unique! xo, Nataly
