I would confidently categorize myself as a caffeine junkie. Whether it’s a morning cup of coffee or a large Coke from Sonic, my day revolves around a caffeine fix. If you are also a caffeine addict you know that coffee and soda are horrible for your teeth! And keeping them white and healthy looking is an on-going struggle.
I gave up on the hopes of having pearly whites until I heard about Smile Brilliant.
If you’re an avid blog reader or even an Instagram addict you’re probably no stranger to Smile Brilliant – the teeth whitening system. I will hand it to them, they have done an incredible job when it comes to influencer marketing. But, if you’ve been living under a rock I will quickly introduce them!
Smile Brilliant is a teeth whitening system that is not like any other whitening product I have tried.
When receiving your initial package you are provided the products to make a customized whitening tray. The box is filled with both white and blue clay to mold onto your teeth to create the whitening tray!
You mold the clay together, and then send off your imprints to be made. After only a few days your whitening trays will be sent over to you and you can start with your whitening system!
I tried Smile Brilliant for a little over a month, and am happy to report that I feel more confident about my teeth than ever. I am very impatient when it comes to testing products, so a whitening system was definitely a trying time for me. I always want to see results a few minutes later and it’s so hard for me to wait for the final product!

While using this system I noticed the upper part of my teeth (closest to my gums) started to become less stained, and appear more white. Although I didn’t wake up one morning with completely white teeth it was settling for me to see the discoloring fade after each application.
How it works
The first step is to brush your teeth with only water to ensure the whitening goes on evenly. Next, you line your whitening trays with the gel and insert onto your teeth. Then you leave your trays on for your desired amount of time. It’s recommended for at least an hour!
I typically left my trays in for 45 – 60 minutes.
In addition to the whitening gel, you are also provided with a sensitizing gel, to help your teeth not feel the complete effects of whitening! This is to be used directly after the whitening step and is recommended for only 15 minutes.
I only did this step a few times at the very beginning of the process. I would say my teeth are not sensitive at all, so the whitening never affected me negatively. But, if you are someone whose teeth hurt from ice cream I would recommend this step!
One thing I appreciated was all of the instructions you were provided with. I am definitely one who does better reading instructions, and knowing how to do everything correctly!
My take away
I will say, it was hard for me to add the whitening system into my night-time routine. Typically I work on blog posts in bed with a cup of hot tea, or wine right before I go to sleep. With Smile Brilliant you are recommended to do the whitening process at the end of your night, and avoid eating or drinking after. So, creating a different routine was a bit hard for me at first.
I have always been extremely sensitive to the taste of whitening products. If you have used any type of whitening system before you probably know what I’m talking about. I remember Crest White strips were the worst for me, and I always felt very nauseous during the process. At the beginning, I was nervous that Smile Brilliant was going to have the same outcome, but I was pleasantly surprised! Since the gel is confined in your trays the product usually doesn’t get in your mouth. There were a couple of times that I could taste the product, but it wasn’t an occurring issue.
After using Smile Brilliant a little around two months, I can definitely see a huge change in my teeth! Although they are not completely the color I’m looking for, I know that after another few months of using the product they will get there!
