Striped Wrap Dress (c/o) | Tan strappy sandals | Gold choker
Starting this post off by saying I am sorry for no Monday post! This weekend I just needed a break from blogging. I had every intention of finally publishing my hair care routine for you guys since I have had a ton of requests for that!
I promise it’s coming next week!
Today we’re talking habits every 20 something should start implementing into their life. I got the idea for this post while listening to Treat Yourself in Your Twenties from The Porch. I cannot say enough good things about this Bad Advice series from The Porch – give it a listen!
In summary, the sermon is about all the bad advice people give to those in their twenties, and why we shouldn’t live by the motto “treat yourself” (to an extent) Most people believe that your twenties is a time to basically forget everything and to live for yourself. It is a fun season of life, and for most twenty-somethings, you do devote a lot of time to treating yourself. Which again is A Ok in certain aspects.
As a twenty something it’s easy to get carried away, and kind of throw healthy habits to the wind. But everything you do in your 20’s will catch up to you in a few years, and we want to make sure it’s all good habits!
1. Implement a skin care routine
This is oh so important, and why I put it as number one on the list! Every night you should be taking care of your skin, and implementing a routine. Take off your makeup, use a moisturizer and find your favorite anti-aging product!
Up until a year ago, I had no idea what anti-aging products were and figured they were only for older women. WRONG.
Anti-aging products are meant to prevent aging, meaning they are ideal for young women! So take preventative care of your skin and use them!
2. Drink more water
You have probably heard this a time or two. But regardless, I’m adding it as just one more reminder! Everyone knows that water is ideal for a healthier life, and you should make it your goal to drink at least 8 glasses a day.
Grab a big Tumblr and bring it wherever you go throughout your day! Personally, I like buying a bigger water bottle to carry around so I don’t have to constantly refill it. I love my Bubba 32 oz that I picked up from Target during college, and make it a goal to fill this up twice a day!
3. Find your favorite way to exercise
If you’re that person who loves running, I envy you. But, also great for you – you found a way to stay active and actually enjoy it!
For the rest of us, thankfully there are so many options now!
Yoga, spin class, acro, etc. There are so many things to do now besides just running and going to the gym. Find yours, and stick to it! It’s so much easier to get yourself to go work out if it’s something you enjoy!
4. Use SPF
Skin cancer is real y’all! I know most of us strive to be bronze after every beach vacation, or pool day. But, your skin will not be looking cute in a few years if you opt for oil instead of SPF. Just because you wear sunscreen doesn’t mean you won’t gain any color either. You are just going to go home without a nasty sunburn.
If you’re going to be out in the sun for a long time wear a hat too!
You can also try out self-tanner which is such a great way to look glowy and tan without any sun damage!

5. Start your morning without social media
I bet 95% of you reading this start your morning by scrolling through Instagram, or another social media. Such a bad habit that I am totally guilty of, but have been trying to change!
Now when I wake up I make sure I don’t grab my phone and leave it on my night stand. Instead, I immediately make myself some coffee and spend quiet time in the word or reading a devotional.
For me, it was so draining immediately looking at everyone’s perfect photos right at the start of my day. It just wasn’t starting my day off on the right foot, and I knew I wanted to change that. Now, I don’t grab for my phone right in the morning anymore and I think it’s something everyone should strive for!
Let’s talk about this wrap dress! I’m wearing a small and it fits pretty TTS. I like that it’s a little bit longer (I’m 5’3) so you don’t have to worry about where you can and can’t wear it. Would be so cute with some white sneakers and an oversized denim jacket once it cools down here!
The material is a little sheer, but I am not wearing a slip in the photos above and was fine! If you’re worried I would just pick up a strapless slip and you should be good to go.

I love all of these! Your 20s is the time you start building habits that last you your entire life, so why not make them good habits?

Now that I have cut out social media in the am and have started my day off with quiet time I feel so much happier! Social media right when you get up can be a bit draining, and time consuming like you said!
And I am so happy you’re loving The Porch!
