The first weekend of January my mom and I went to Waco, Texas for a fun girl’s trip. I had told my mom about it for Christmas, and had surprised her with a trip as a fun Christmas present! My mom and I had both been to Waco before super briefly, so we were excited to finally get to explore everything.
Before we headed there I asked on my Instagram stories for recommendations, and you all really came through! I’m going to share everything we did, and also share all of the recommendations I got that we didn’t have time for.
Friday
We left Houston around noon putting us into Waco a little over 3:30 PM! We checked into the hotel first thing, and then headed right out! We stayed in the Courtyard Marriott and I 100% recommend! It was super close to everything, and only took us about 5 minutes to get to everywhere we wanted to go! It’s definitely within walking distance to a ton of shops, and food but it was a little chilly while we were there so we drove.
After we checked in we headed off to Magnolia Market! If you are wanting to go visit Magnolia Market, and you’re able to go on a weekday I think that is the best time. We didn’t wait in any crazy lines to get in, and shopping around was totally enjoyable. My mom had been once before on a Saturday and she said it was crazy!
Honestly, we really didn’t stay at Magnolia Market as long as I had thought we would have! It was definitely worth the hype, and think it’s worth the trip but since there weren’t any lines we really didn’t stay too long! Also, my mom mentioned that the majority of the food trucks come out on Saturday, so I think if there would have been more food we might have stayed longer. But, definitely was still super fun!
After Magnolia, we both were pretty tired and needed to get some caffeine! We headed to Dictonomy Coffee and both got a vanilla latte. This coffee shop was so perfect! It’s also a bar, which is really cool if you’re wanting somewhere to hangout for a bit. Dichotomy Coffee is located around a ton of cute shops, so we walked around for a bit until we realized that most of the shops had already closed. We then headed over to a shopping center that had a ton of normal stores that both my mom and I had been missing since Hurricane Harvey flooded our main shopping center!
For dinner, we ate at 1424 and had the best time. If you’re looking for something a little bit fancier, but still local I would recommend this place! 10/1o. Also, their bread is homemade so that’s really the real winner.
After dinner, we headed to the Waco Wine Tasting Room but once we got there we both decided it was pretty chill, and we could just hangout in the hotel and get wine there haha. I think we both were wanting more of a crowd type of vibe, and it was pretty quiet! It was definitely cute though, and I definitely would have gone during the day.
Saturday
Since we only stayed one night Saturday was our last day! We got ready in the morning, loaded our car and checked out of the hotel. For breakfast we went to Cafe Cappuchino. We both had gone before, and loved it so we figured we would stick with something we knew we would both love! They’re known for their pancakes so you have to get them when you go. TIP: only get one. They are HUGE!
Next, we headed off to Spice Village. This was the #1 recommendation I got from everyone! I think every DM someone sent me, told me we had to go to Spice Village! We started the shopping party at Roots Boutique. My friend Kenzie from Klassically Kenzie told me about this boutique and I’m so glad she did. They sell a ton of Free People, and have the cutest stuff! Spice Village was next and really cool. It’s such a fun concept: it’s one floor with a ton of different shops all rolled into one. They have something for everyone which is always nice when you’re with a group of people!
After Spice Village we headed back to the same shopping center we were at the day before and shopped a little more, then got BJ’s for an early dinner before heading back to Houston! So, we basically just had a fun shopping weekend in Waco. Which I am always down for!
